They are created usinga variety of methods using handmade paints and handmade paper made out of pigmentfrom various material like my grandmother’s crushed antique jewelry, pigmentsfrom the earth, broken glass, and other material I have collected over theyears. The sparkle represents the child’s perspective, while the broken jewelryand glass represent nature’s fragility.”

“When I was a child, I approached nature with wonder and amazement,”Karabin said. “The symmetry, color, and fractals found in the natural worldcaptivated my mind constantly. My earliest memories areplaying in my grandmother’s garden, never wondering what compelled her toconvert every inch of her back yard into growing plants, buzzing withpollinators. This experience opened up my mind to the beauty of nature.”
Of the exhibit Karabin says, “These pieces are meant tohonor nature and express our connection and place in it.
Karabin is a mixed-media artist, painter, and printmaker. She received my Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) and Master of Fine Arts (MFA) from the School of the ArtInstitute of Chicago, where she studied printmaking and painting. She currently lives on a 10-acre,former Christmas Tree farm in Kalamazoo, Mich., that has become a source ofinspiration.

They are created usinga variety of methods using handmade paints and handmade paper made out of pigmentfrom various material like my grandmother’s crushed antique jewelry, pigmentsfrom the earth, broken glass, and other material I have collected over theyears.
Karabin is a mixed-media artist, painter, and printmaker. She received my Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) and Master of Fine Arts (MFA) from the School of the ArtInstitute of Chicago, where she studied printmaking and painting.
